How the site operates

The first (Graphing) page allows you to combine and compare any and all combinations of fluorescent molecules, filters, mirrors and excitation sources.   Within the first page, additional information about the spectrum currently selected may be viewed by selecting the "Notes" button.   Using "Copy" and "Paste" allows the printing of Notes from any text editor.  The Calculation Page button moves you to another page in which estimates of fluorescence efficiency may be determined (see below).  

 
   
 

  

 
       
 

The Calculations page (below) provides a semi-quantitative evaluation of components in a virtual microscope.  Indices of fluorescence and estimates of fluorescence efficiency are calculated when a complete set of components is selected.  Selecting a laser negates any selection made for a lamp and/or excitation filter.  Selecting a lamp and excitation filter overwrites a laser selection.
