Support and Eligibility:
Students receiving BMIS fellowships must be pursuing a Ph.D. degree in one of the approved graduate training programs at the University of Arizona, and also be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The BMIS program is open to qualified students from all relevant academic departments; however graduate students in Biomedical Engineering, Physiological Sciences, and Optical Sciences are especially encouraged to apply.

BMIS stipends are $19,968 per year. An additional $3,368 can be applied to tuition, fees, and/or other expenses. Students will receive a travel award of $1000 per year to attend scientific meetings.

Application:
Students should apply to one of the affiliated programs by their indicated deadline dates (generally February in the year of matriculation; see below for links).  To apply for a BMIS fellowship, applicants should send a current CV and a short one-page write-up describing their research interests and long-term career objectives. Interested students can contact Ms. Maggie Gomez (gomez@radiology.arizona.edu) to inquire about the fellowship program. The deadline for receipt of BMIS applications is May 1, 2004.
