Dr. Reinthal
has been an Associate Curator and Adjunct Associate Professor in
the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University
of Arizona since 1999. He also serves on the Desert Fishes Recovery
Task Force, the International Decade of East African Lakes Steering
Committee, and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Institute
for the Conservation of Tropical Environments.
Dr. Reinthal's
research interests include the ecology and evolution of freshwater
fishes in Africa and southwest North America. He has conducted research
and training programs at Lake Malawi in Africa, Madagascar, Lake
Victoria, Uganda, and Kenya. He helped set up national parks in
Malawi and Madagascar. He is currently involved in the conservation
of and is conducting research on the desert fishes of Arizona.
