Effect of Mutations Paternal effect: Hermaphrodites and males produce motile sperm that fertilize oocytes leading to abnormal early development. Transcript present only in sperm, but forced transgene expression in oocyte can rescue Spe phenotype; SPE-11 in perinuclear halo of mature sperm.
