Well, I'm doing a little better job updating the web site than updating the site news lately. I've been updating and purging lots of old links, and including a few new things. Here are some items of note:

  • Added links to euGenes (used to be MEOW) to the C. elegans and Sequence Analysis links pages.
  • Added several useful links to the Literature Searches links page. Note that some of these sites will only work if you have a personal or institutional subscription (as UA does) to the site:
  • Enhanced functionality of our Lab Publications page.
Where available, I've added links to the full text articles and/or list of papers that have sited each article. You may need a journal subscription for these links to work (UA has subscriptions to most)
  • Thanks to some heroic work by lab member Jennifer McGilton, all of the Vendors links have now been updated.

April 21, 2000

  • Updated several C. elegans genomics resources on the C. elegans links page. These include new links to WormBase and the MEOW (Model Eukaryotic Organism Web) genomic data repositories.
  • Haven't done any major site work for a while, but we have finally updated our Lab Members Mugshot Board (thanks to Eric F. and Marci M. for taking new photos). Have done some minor tidying up and link fixing. Please contact pmuhlrad@u.arizona.edu if you find any bad links or would like to suggest new ones.

  • Added a link to the HMS Beagle Job Alert page to the Career Development Links page. This site contains job databases, interesting articles, and other resources for careers and career paths in the biological sciences. (Requires free registration to Biomednet).
  • Over the past several months, added and updated several miscellaneous links in our links pages.

January 24, 1999

January 18, 1999

  • Added a link to Technical Tips Online to our Protocol Links page. Technical Tips Online offers "Technical Tips (novel methods or significant improvements on existing methods), Core Protocols (invited from experienced laboratories), and Application Notes (information from Companies about specific products)- all from Elsevier Trends Journals." This searchable and regularly updated protocols database is available free through BioMedNet (free registration required).
  • You can now roll your mouse over the worm micrograph to identify particular parts of the anatomy (requires Flash Player plug-in, included with most recent browsers, or downloadable for free from Macromedia.)
  • Updated the link to our microarray results on the microarray page.

January 11, 1999

  • We are using a new server, which should result in even faster and more reliable access to our site. In case you're interested, here are some of the technical specs of our new server:

Dell Poweredge 6300, with dual Pentium Xeon 400 MHz. processors with 512K L2 cache, 256 Mb. RAM, 18 Gb. RAID 5 storage subsystem which uses high performance 10,000 RPM ultra wide SCSI 2 drives, running NT 4.0 and IIS 4.0 as the web server. Connected to the campus backbone by a 100 Mb./sec high speed ethernet connection.

(Not sure what all this means, but it sure sounds impressive, doesn't it?)

  • stay tuned for some new web technology we're introducing, such as Macromedia Flash animations and FileMaker Pro databases of our mutant and DNA sequence collections.

HMS Beagle Featured Lab

  • We are the Featured Lab for Issue 42 of HMS Beagle! We are delighted to receive this honor and even more delighted to have all the visitors sent over by HMS Beagle. Welcome to our site. We hope you enjoy your visit (let us know).
  • With the throngs of visitors from HMS Beagle that will soon be beating at the doors of our little site (we hope), it's about time we show everyone just what a C. elegans worm looks like. So, finally, here's a worm portrait.

November 11, 1998

  • Genosys Biotechnologies has a very nice oligonucleotide calculator that calculates the melting temperature, molecular weight, and potential for secondary structure and primer dimer formation for any oligo sequence you enter. I put a link to the oligo calculator on both our Sequence Analysis and Vendors links pages.
  • We've been listed as a reference in the homeworkcentral database! If you found our site through homework central, welcome. We hope you find what you were looking for, and maybe even a few things you weren't looking for!

October 22, 1998

  • Organized and added new links for worm genomics resources on C. elegans Links Page

September 29, 1998

  • The C. elegans WWW Server at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center has moved to a new, faster computer. The new URL is: http://elegans.swmed.edu/
I think I've changed most of our links to reflect the change, but if you catch any I missed, please let me know.

EVERYTHING'S NEW! Our new site's public unveiling. We hope you like it, excuse the portions still under heavy construction, and visit again soon to watch it take shape. Although there's already a lot to explore, we plan on adding many more pictures, videos, and interactive pages in the near future.
